Taj Mahal – The symbol of Love

Agra was the favorite city of the Mughal emperors in past. Babur first laid out the formal Persian garden on the bank of Yamuna River. His grandson Akbar raised the towering ramparts with the great Red Fort. Shahjahan built many mosques, palaces and the wonder – Taj Mahal. Agra is known as the city of Taj Mahal. Taj Mahal is a monument of love and care. It represents India to the World.

Taj Mahal is the tomb of Mumtaz Mahal. It is believed that Taj Mahal name came from Mumtaz Mahal. This palace stands on the bank of river Yamuna, the center of Mughal emperors until the capital was moved to Delhi in 1637. The fifth Mughal emperor, Shah Jahan built it in 1631, in memory of her second wife Mumtaz Mahal. She died while her husband in Burhanpur in a campaign of crush a rebellion after giving birth of her 14th child. When Mumtaz lay dying she asked four promises from her husband. First- she asked to build the Taj Mahal, second- that he should marry again, third-that he should be kind to their children and fourth- she asked to visit the tomb on her death anniversary. According to the promises he built the Taj Mahal. The construction started in 1631 and it took 22 years. Twenty thousand workers worked hard to build it. The main architect was Istad Usa, who was an Iranian architect.
Taj Mahal is a wonder of the world of architecture. It is renowned to all for its architectural design. As a tomb, it is really great.

Taj Mahal is situated more than 900 ft. far from entrance opposite end of the garden. Towering is about 200 ft. high. The tomb stands on marble plinth. Taj Mahal became more attractive for the combination of Persian, Central Asian and Islamic architectural design. This palace stands on a square platform of 186 x 186 feet. The minarets are graceful and 162.5 feet high. A garden starts from the main gateway. These kind of attractive gardens were introduced to India by the first Mughal emperor Babur.
There is a mosque on the west side of Taj Mahal. There are 539 prayer carpets which are marked with black marble. The roof is supported with four octagonal towers and three elegant domes. It faces towards the Mecca. On the east side there is a twin of the mosque. It is known as Jawab  (the answer).
